Lovely. Been here during December 2011.
One of the loveliest places in India. A very calm, cool place to be for 2-3 days. Just be there and do nothing. You will still feel very nice. The ricks are quite expensive there, being an island. Filled with nature and simplicity, yet developed to a pretty good extent, Rameswaram is a place you should not miss. I had been there in December 2011 with my family and we stayed at Hotel Royal Park, around 3 KMs from the Railway Station (took Rs. 60/- for us to reach there). The hotel was great. Lavish yet affordable.
